We are seeking an accomplished and commercially minded Chief Financial Officer to join our Senior Leadership Team in a permanent, full-time role based in Auckland.
As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will oversee a multi-disciplinary portfolio—spanning Financial Control, FP&A, Risk & Procurement, Legal, and Strategic Projects—providing trusted advice to the Board and helping shape sound decision-making across the business. This is a unique opportunity to lead through a period of transformation, rebuilding key relationships and influencing the future of cricket both on and off the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Control & FP&A: Ensure the absolute integrity of all financial data through robust controls, while leading comprehensive budgeting, forecasting, and commercial analysis.
- Commercial Leadership: Act as the primary financial sponsor and "commercial push" for key strategic projects, ensuring major initiatives remain financially viable and meet strict ROI hurdles.
- Systems & Process Transformation: Spearhead a comprehensive upgrade of NZC’s finance systems and operational processes to elevate reporting accuracy, speed, and business intelligence.
- Multi-Disciplinary Oversight: Provide executive guidance and mentorship to dedicated functional heads across Risk, Insurance & Procurement, and Legal.
- Stakeholder Engagement: cultivate, and manage strong, transparent relationships across the wider Cricket Network, including Major Associations (MAs), the New Zealand Cricket Players' Association (NZCPA), the ICC, and commercial partners.
- Governance & Board Reporting: Deliver high-quality, actionable financial narratives and dashboards to the CEO, Senior Leadership Team, and the Board of Directors.
Experience and Skills We're looking for an experienced finance executive who brings:
- Significant senior financial leadership experience (CFO, VP of Finance, or Head of FP&A) in a complex commercial environment.
- A Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification underpinned by a strong foundation in accounting principles and exceptional commercial acumen.
- A proven track record of designing, leading, and executing successful financial systems implementations and wide-scale process improvements.
- Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring multi-disciplinary teams (e.g., Finance, Legal, Risk, Procurement).
- Exceptional relationship-building skills, with a proven ability to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes, build trust, and influence effectively at the Board and executive levels.
- A collaborative, hands-on approach with a passion for leading people, driving change, and delivering results.
